Turfcare Machinery Course

Module 1 - Online Heath & Safety - Lantra Award

  • Short online course relating to groundcare machinery - Pre-requisite for Lantra Turfcare courses.

    This Lantra Award is about health and safety rights and responsibilities of people in a workplace dealing with groundcare machinery.

    It deals with the knowledge required to make sure that:

    • The actions or omissions of workers do not create health and safety hazards

    • Workers can identify significant risks in the workplace

    • Workers can take sensible action to put things right, including: seeking advice and reporting situations which pose a danger to themselves and others in the workplace

Module 2 - Mower Set-up - Lantra Award

  • What does it include?

    This course is aimed at providing operators with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a machine which uses abrasive wheels for grinding operations.

    This is an assessed course which will enable the learner to understand the principles of cylinder mower set up, understand the possible hazards and manage health and safety. The learner will be able to identify quality issues and resolve them through correct cylinder mower set up.

    The course will include a mix of theory and practical work.

    Theory

    • Cutting unit handling safety

    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • Machine and cylinder unit components

    • Turf care cylinder mower principles

    • Poor quality of cut trouble shooting

    • Poor quality of cut identification

    • Correcting poor quality of cut

    • Setting up cutting cylinders

    Practical

    • Turf care cylinder unit set up

Module 3 - Mower Sharpening - Lantra Award

  1. What does it include?

    This course is aimed at providing operators with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a machine which uses abrasive wheels for grinding operations.

    This is an assessed course which will enable the learner to understand the principles of abrasive wheels, understand the possible hazards and manage health and safety. The learner will be able to safely operate and maintain an abrasive wheel machine that sharpens cylinder mowers.

    The theoretical sessions are delivered in combination with the practical sessions.

    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • The abrasive wheel

    • Machine and cylinder components

    • Using turfcare cylinder grinder

This Lantra Award is about health and safety rights and responsibilities of people in a workplace dealing with groundcare machinery. This is a mandatory short online course.

Mower Setup

This course will enable the learner to identify quality issues and resolve them through correct cylinder mower setup. The course will include a mix of theory and practical work.

Mower Sharpening

The learner will be able to safely operate and maintain an abrasive wheel machine that sharpens cylinder mowers. The course will include a mix of theory and practical work.

Turfcare Machinery

Electrics

This course is for learners looking to improve their land-based machinery electrical skills and knowledge. It is a requirement to have passed the Health & Safety module before attending.

Hydraulics

This course is for learners looking to improve their land-based machinery hydraulic skills and knowledge. It is a requirement to have passed the Health & Safety module before attending.

Turfcare Professional

Managers Course

The course will review machinery management processes in keeping with legislation. Develop a staff training plan to maximise machinery efficiency.

Marketing Development

The course will review marketing both yourself and the business. Taking you through the various methods of communication such as social media and email marketing and how best to present yourself across multiple social channels.
